Wai Ji Matching Game CardBack
Introduction:
Wai Ji's occupational therapy team has developed a set of card game named "Wai Ji Matching Game Card" for the past two years. This game card is suitable for people aged 3-80 and people with different cognitive abilities, such as cognitive impairment, autism and intellectual disabilities, to paticipate in the game together. It could help the participants to interact easily and promote social integration.
Design idea:
Board games have always been popular with adults and children. However, people with intellectual disabilities often fail to understand the meaning of abstract symbols such as playing cards due to their limited cognitive abilities. In view of this, our occupational therapists began to design and repeatedly test a set of specific and simple game cards two years ago so that the participants with different abilities can enjoy the fun of playing card games.
There are 72 game cards in total, including 48 main cards, 22 function cards, 1 direction indicator card and 1 backup card. There are also 6 introduction cards. The number of participants varies from 2 to 4 people and at least 8 games can be played.
Features:
- Improve cognition and concentration
The game card can be adjusted according to the cognitive ability of the player. Through the game, players can learn the importance of obeying the rules, and also improve their cognitive ability and concentration. The color, number and pattern matching game of the picture card can help to train short-term memory and simple arithmetic ability. - Improve social skills
While playing the game, it can improve the social skills of the participants, to establish interpersonal relationships and to help increase positive behaviours. Also, it can help to reduce negative emotions and cultivate their personal interests. - Promote social inclusion
Participants with different levels of cognition can enjoy the game together. Both parties can communicate and understand each other in a relaxed environment of equality and mutual respect, so as to achieve social inclusion.
