2022 Wai Ji Boccia Fun Day
Wai Ji Christian Service has been making efforts to encourage service users to participate in physical fitness activities. Our working group on physical fitness held the Wai Ji Boccia Fun Day for year 2022 on September 28th, 2022 so that service users could experience the fun of playing boccia through matches and games.
Thanks are due to the Hong Kong Racehorse Owners Association Charitable Foundation for its sponsorship and to volunteers from the FFG Charity Society and Hong Kong Retired Police Volunteer Team for their assistance, which have enabled the event to be held successfully. Credits should also be given to our working group and our units’ staff for their efforts in motivating service users to take part in the boccia sport.
Besides boccia, our Agency plans to motivate service users to take part in other new sports which are suitable for people with different levels of disabilities, one after another, in the future. All of the new sports in question, including Floor Curling, Mölkky and Cornhole, have established rules that are internationally accepted, as well as recognized coaches and referees, registered associations and local (or even international) competitions. The aim of this plan is to provide our service users with more opportunities to have personal breakthroughs, get away from Hong Kong and reach out to the world by engaging them in sports.
