Mr. Wu Ting Pang, Sunny, Chief Executive of Wai Ji Christian Service, Unit Managers and service users of Tseung Kwan O Integrated Rehabilitation Services Centre and Hostel at Hor Ping were invited by RTHK1 to share the experiences of promoting hydroponics in hostels on 20^th September 2020.

At end of 2019, our Agency began to implement Hydroponic Planting Project in two Yuen Long district units to grow organic vegetables so that our service users can taste the vegetables they grow and to promote the message of being healthy. Also, the project also enriches the content of the Gardening Group and the elements of gardening can be applied to the Life and Death Education Group.

It takes about 6-7 weeks for the vegetable to grow, service users experience a life growth process with a great sense of satisfaction which helps to enhance their motivation. The moment of harvest showed the results of their hard work. It is also a valuable experience to face failure, such as the unsuccessful cultivation, it also gives service users the opportunity to learn problem solving, and make persistent efforts to grow the plants.
